This includes protecting and maintaining the privacy, accuracy and security of the personal information you provide to us. We are committed to protecting your privacy when managing your personal information. We have policies and procedures to ensure that all personal information is handled carefully and securely in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles(APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“Privacy Act”) . The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to explain why we collect information, what kind of personal information we may collect about you; how we may use that information and the choices you have regarding our use of such information; whether we disclose your personal information to anyone; how you may inquire, access and/or seek correction of your personal information and our access and correction handling procedure; and how you may alert us about an alleged breach of the APPs and our complaint handling procedure.

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected by the Trade Superstore by any means or technology and whether we have asked for the information or not. By using the websites operated by the TS, or otherwise interacting with us in relation to the products and services offered by us (including at our retail stores, trade shows or participating in competitions or promotions offered by us), you consent to Trade Superstore using your personal information as set out in this Privacy Policy.

Collection of information

The types of information that we collect from you will depend on the circumstances of collection and on the service that we are providing to you.

Personal information; The type of personal information collected will be directly related to the specified purpose it has been collected for. Personal information will only be collected through lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive way.

How much of your personal information that you choose to disclose to us is completely up to you. However, failure to provide certain information may result in us being unable to provide you with the relevant product or service

The type of personal information we collect when you deal with Trade Superstore by requesting products or services from us, by using our website, social media platforms or via direct correspondence, may include your name and contact details (ie billing and/or postal address, phone number(s) or email address), and/or credit card details.

We do not store any credit card information obtained at our retail stores, by telephone or through our websites. We pass it onto our bank or where applicable, our supplier for processing. If you use PayPal to complete your transaction, your personal information (including credit card information) will be collected and used by PayPal in accordance with its privacy policy, which is available here: https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full.

We only retain the last 4 digits for verification of your credit card on delivery. In some instances we request a copy of your driver’s licence and credit card to confirm delivery when you are not going to be at home or the products have been purchased as a gift to ensure the transaction is not fraudulent. This information is destroyed as soon as its accuracy is confirmed.

If you sign up to use a particular service such as a loyalty or rewards program(s) or enter into a competition operated by us, we may collect information such as your date of birth and your interests and any other information required to provide that service to you (in addition to your name and contact details). If you participate in any surveys we, or a third party service provider acting on our behalf, may conduct from time to time on our website, personal information relating to your survey responses. If you make an inquiry, provide feedback or make a complaint to us, we may collect your name and contact details. You acknowledge that the personal information we collect from you is your own information or information which you have been authorized to provide us.

Trade Superstore provides contents and services on a range of platforms (including social media networks) with interactive features to which you may contribute. If you post your personal information in publicly accessible places or social media platforms, your personal information will become publicly available (subject to, where applicable, any privacy settings you have in place in social media platforms). Trade Superstore will not be responsible for the protection of personal information you choose to publish this way.

We do not generally collect “sensitive information” as defined under the Privacy Act, such as racial or ethnicity information, political opinions or associations, criminal records or health information.

Where unsolicited information is received by us (such as through our Facebook page) we will determine, within a reasonable period of time, whether or not we would be permitted to collect the information under the APPs. If it would not be permitted for us to collect the information, we will destroy the information or ensure it is de-identified as soon as practicable. Otherwise, we may retain the information in accordance with the terms of this policy.

If you are accessing our products and services via our website, we may collect statistical information as you your activity, including the IP address of your computer (or other devices), your web browsing history on our websites and transactional data including your payment histories.

However, we do not collect information about the identity of the visitors unless they voluntarily provide that information.

We may also collect personal information through our related bodies corporate and our third party service providers (such as data relating to survey responses) so that we may provide a better or more relevant product to you.

We will use the personal information you have chosen to provide us for the purpose for which you provided it or a related secondary purpose which you would reasonably expect. We will always provide you with the opportunity to opt out of direct marketing communications. Disclosure

There will be occasions where it will be necessary for us to disclose your personal information to third parties. These third parties may be located in Australia or overseas, including but not limited to the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, China and India. We require these organizations to maintain the confidentiality of your personal information and also seek to ensure that they adhere to the Australian Privacy Principles and any other relevant privacy rules and legislation as enacted from time to time, including the EU GDPR. These service providers are not permitted to use your personal information for their own marketing purposes.

In addition, we may release your personal information under the following circumstances; when required to do so by a court or under applicable laws or regulation (for example, a subpoena) or where requested by a government agency; where we consider a company or an individual may be engaged in fraudulent activity or other deceptive practices that a governmental agency should be made aware of; and to appropriate persons, where your communication suggests possible harm to others.

Otherwise than stated above, we do not disclose personal information that you may give us to any organization or person outside of us unless you have authorized us to do so.

Under no circumstances will we sell or receive payment for licensing or disclosing your personal information.

Security

The security of your information is important to us. We operate secure data networks that are designed to protect your privacy and security. When we have collected information about you it cannot be seen or modified by anyone else. We have implemented generally acceptable standards of technology and operational security to ensure personal information (in both physical and electronic form) is protected against loss, misuse, interference and unauthorized access. Only authorized personnel and contractors are provided access to personal information and have agreed to ensure the confidentiality of this information. We will be happy to accept updated personal information in writing from the owner of that information at any time. Depending on the nature of your request, we may ask the owner of the information to complete a personal information request form. Our objective is to respond to any request within a reasonable timeframe and no later than 30 days. We will inform you if this timeframe is not achievable.
